Artists and celebrities across the country are condemning the Supreme Court’s plan to overturn Roe v. Wadeand, in a show of solidarity, have teamed up to prove it.
Planned Parenthood today ran a full page New York Times ad, signed by 160 of today’s biggest stars in entertainment, opposing the potential decision.
Those who signed include Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez, Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Thee Stallion, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Demi Lovato, Halsey, Hailey Bieber, Camila Mendes, FINNEAS, and Lili Reinhart.
Model Karlie Kloss, singers Meghan Trainor and Phoebe Bridgers, and actors Ariana DeBosea and Hailee Steinfeld also signed.
The ad comes as a display of support for women’s rights — specifically abortion rights. Overturning Roe v. Wade would mean abortion will not be a legally protected right on the national scale, and rather, individual states would have the power to protect or ban abortion for its citizens.
Since the draft of the Supreme Court’s vote was leaked, women and allies across the country have mobilized to support organizations protecting reproductive rights, such as Planned Parenthood, Women’s March, UltraViolet, MoveOn, Liberate Abortion, and SEIU. Planned Parenthood has organized demonstrations across the country, as part of its #BansOffOurBodies campaign.
The signatures on today’s NYT page are written on a Bans Off Our Bodies ad. Tomorrow, May 14, is Bans Off Our Bodies Day of Action, when hundreds of thousands of people in different states are expected to march in support of abortion rights.
