Customers of Rose City Cleaners reached out to News Center 7 earlier this week after the business posted signs indicating they are closing, but their clothes were still inside. Those concerned customers were looking for answers and solutions to get their belongings back, whether they were clean or unclean.

A new sign placed on the business’ door tells customers the location will close for good May 5, but workers promise all customers who come before the closing date will get their items back.

A worker at the business also told News Center 7′s John Bedell they’ll be at the business Friday, and Monday through Thursday during the day to help customers get their belongings back before the final close date. The employee added all the clothes that are not picked up after May 5 will be donated.

“This has been a very difficult time for us here at the cleaners. Since our Covid shutdown in April 2020, we have not been able to rebound enough to the point of positive income. We have fought hard to last this long but cannot sustain this pace, ”a business spokesperson said in a social media post.

“I have reached out to several cleaners in neighboring areas, looking for interest in continuing the service here, but have had zero luck. So if you have any items in the store, we ask that you come pick them up before May 5, remaining items will be donated. ”

Lee Smith, of Springfield, who spoke with News Center 7 Wednesday saying he was still missing items, said he now has all his items that were initially inside the business.
