Gold asked if Tottenham signing Bastoni in January is possible
Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that he would expect Tottenham Hotspur to inquire about Alessandro Bastoni in January, but cannot see why Inter Milan would let him go in the winter.
Bastoni is a player who has been heavily linked with Spurs since Antonio Conte came to the club. He is the ‘superstar’ of the Inter defence. And of course, he was part of the Nerazzurri side which won the Scudetto under Conte.
Reports from Calciomercato. It claimed during the summer that Conte had been asking Fabio Paratici everyday about signing the 23-year-old. Meanwhile, 90min suggested that the defender had told Inter that he wanted to leave to join Tottenham.
Gold expects Tottenham to inquire about Bastoni
Obviously, no move would take place. But Tottenham did not exactly address the centre-back issue in the long-term before the end of the window.

Clement Lenglet came in on loan for the season. And with that, Gold could see Spurs making a big push to sign a marquee addition next summer.
The journalist was asked whether signing Bastoni in January is possible. He did suggest that it is a deal Tottenham will look into, but admitted that he cannot see him moving from San Siro.
“I’m sure Spurs will enquire, but I struggle to see why Inter would let him go in January. It doesn’t really make any sense. I don’t think I’ve seen anything about the contract,” he told his YouTube channel.
“The Lenglet deal being a loan without an option to buy just lends itself in my head to a summer move for a big, expensive player maybe. And that could be Bastoni.”
It would be quite something if Tottenham could sign Bastoni in January.
Right now, it appears unlikely. But Spurs know all too well how quickly circumstances can change.
It was during the last January window that Tottenham made a £46 million bid for Luis Diaz. And it was making that offer that prompted Liverpool to enter the race to ensure that they did not miss out.
Reports in the summer suggested that Bastoni was valued at £52 million. So if a club makes that kind of offer in January, Spurs will surely have to change plans to make sure that he does not head elsewhere.
