SARASOTA, FL — A Sarasota home in the Harbor Acres neighborhood just sold for $15.5 million, according to a news release from The Ackerman Group, which is affiliated with Coldwell Banker Realty and represented the seller of the waterfront, gated estate.
In July, the $17.5 million sale of another home in this neighborhood set local home sale records. It marked the highest-ever residential sale in the tri-county region of Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte, according to Michael Saunders & Company, which represented the sellers.
The nearly 8,500 square foot home that just sold for $15.5 million, born from the collaboration of renowned architect-designer Thorning Little and leading luxury home builder Bruce Saba, is located on Vista Drive and was originally built in 2010, The Ackerman Group said. It sits on nearly 1.5 acres with 230 feet of Sarasota Bay waterfront.
The French Provincial-inspired design includes numerous custom-built features using materials imported from France, including the roof tiles and ornaments, the antique white oak flooring, stone flooring, the hand-carved cabinetry and interior doors, and the door hardware.
Restored front doors from the Belgium Embassy set the stage for an exquisite interior featuring 14-foot ceiling heights, custom ceiling treatments, hand-plastered interior walls, antique chandeliers and painstaking craftsmanship, The Ackerman Group said,
“Homes like this do not come along very often in the Sarasota market—both the design and waterfront location are a rare, winning combination and it was an honor to represent the sale of this property,” Ryan Ackerman, lead selling agent, said. “The exquisite details of this home—inside and out—are second to none. The infinity edge pool with jacuzzi that overlooks the bay is breathtaking and the interior will be a decorator’s dream to furnish.”
Other significant home features include a dream culinary kitchen, complete with a La Cornue range, Sub-Zero refrigerators, large center island, and butler’s pantry. The home also boasts custom Hope Windows iron hurricane impact windows, automated window treatments, two elevators, an air-conditioned three-car garage, Crestron lighting control system, an entire home backup generator and cobblestone driveway.
