Jacqueline Fernandez issued fresh summons in connection with Rs 200 crore money laundering probe

The Delhi Police issued a fresh summons to Fernandez to appear on 14 September. The Police postponed their questioning scheduled on Monday as the actor cited prior commitments and asked for another date. However, she was asked to join the investigation on September 14, reported news agency ANI.
In its third summon to the actor to join the probe, the police asked her to appear on September 14 at the EOW office at Mandir Marg around 11 am.
It is to be recalled that Fernandez was named in the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case involving Sukesh. The chargesheet alleged that the actor knew about Sukesh’s involvement in criminal cases but chose to overlook the same and indulged in financial transactions with the accused.
Last year the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet accusing Sukesh, his wife Leena Maria Paul and 14 others of extorting Rs 200 crore from former billionaire Shivinder Singh’s wife over the course of 1 year. Sukesh was lodged in Delhi’s Rohini jail as an undertrial during the time, it added.
On August 17, ED alleged that the actor received gifts worth Rs 5.71 crore from Sukesh, with whom she was rumored to be romantically involved. ED further stated that Fernandez is trying to project herself as a victim of manipulative actions by Sukesh.
The financial crimes investigations agency registered a case of money laundering based on FIRs filed by the Delhi Police. ED earlier said that it recorded Fernandez’s statements with regards to the case on August 30 and October 20 last year, in which she admitted receiving gifts from Chandrashekar.
