Minnesota authors, including some local, to participate in book signing event in Worthington – The Globe

WORTHINGTON – Serenity Gifts in downtown Worthington is hosting a multi-author book signing event from 10 am to noon Saturday at its shop, 201 10th St.

Owner Sheri Van Der Brink said six Minnesota authors, as well as a local couple with strong ties to authors, will be on hand to autograph their books and visit with readers.

“I have so many authors here that are from Minnesota and are Minnesota-based story lines,” Van Der Brink said of the selection of books she offers for sale at her store. “I thought, let’s get all of them exposed – how cool it would be to get a whole group of authors here.”

Dea’s husband, Wayne Klumper, will also be on hand to autograph copies of “Heals: A story of Tragedy, Miracles and Love,” which was written by their children – Dan Klumper, Tresse Klumper Evenson and Joe Klumper – following Wayne’s motorcycle crash and recovery.

Van Der Brink said each of the authors will be at tables stationed throughout the shop. People are welcome to get autographs, ask questions of the authors and visit.

“It’s kind of an open forum,” Van Der Brink said. “Some of the authors are new; some have been writers for many years.

“I’m so excited for this,” she added. “I’m thrilled that we’ve got authors as close as Windom and Lismore; some from the cities and some from the Mankato area. ”

Serenity Gifts carries a selection of Minnesota-based authors and books, and Van Der Brink has read several of them already, with more to go.

Copies are available for purchase at the store, and Van Der Brink said people are welcome to bring books that they’ve already purchased with them on Saturday to be signed.

In addition to the author visits, Serenity Gifts is hosting a kids craft event on Saturday. Pre-registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome to participate in painting garden stones.

“They will have guidance painting it here in the store,” Van Der Brink said. “If they want it as an outside stone, they can take it home and bake it.”

While Van Der Brink anticipates a busy day in the store on Saturday, she’s excited to bring a new event to the community.
