Two snatchers involved in a gold chain snatching in Sector-14, Panchkula, landed in police net on Thursday. The accused were identified as Aarif Khan and Shdaab Khan, both natives of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and residents of Zirakpur. They had snatched the chain from a Panchkula resident on July 28. They have been sent to two-day police remand. HTC
Basketball trials for U-16 camp tomorrow
The Chandigarh Basketball Association will conduct trials on November 26 at New Public School, Sector 18, to select youth probables (U-16) for a coaching camp. Players born on or after January 1, 2006, and currently studying in Chandigarh are eligible to participate. After completion of the camp, selected players will represent Chandigarh at the 37th Youth National Basketball Championship to be held in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) from December 21 to December 27.
PU inks pact for research promotion
Panjab University (PU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, to promote research and development, innovation, and training in emerging areas of engineering, sciences, and other allied areas. Both universities have appointed coordinators who will be responsible for managing the development and conduct of collaborative activities. They will review the collaborative activity on an annual basis and prepare a report.

Korea-India economic cooperation forum hero
The Korea-India economic cooperation forum 2022 was held on Thursday at the CII Northern region headquarters in Chandigarh. Speaking at the event, Chang Jae-bok, ambassador of the embassy of the Republic of Korea said the states of Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh hold enormous potential for strengthening the Korea-India partnership. “I am happy to say that the year 2023 will mark the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and India. This region has excellent human resources, capacity of scale and is at the center of the future of the agriculture and manufacturing pool,” the ambassador added.
IT department’s outreach programs in Ambala
The office of The Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Chandigarh on Thursday organized an outreach program at the Ambala Income Tax office. In the meeting, deputy commissioner, Income Tax (Exemptions), Hena Kumar Sukhna said the representations received by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and with a view to avoid hardship to taxpayers, the board has condoned the delay in filing of Form 10A until Friday (November 25).
