‘There’s no way a team should be able to guard all three of us’

New York Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore has no problem with his team bringing Garrett Wilson into the wide receiver room via the 2022 NFL draft.

In fact, Moore is welcoming the first-round pick with open arms.

During minicamp, Moore made a statement that sounds like he’s seen enough.

Between him, Wilson, and veteran Corey Davis? He thinks this receiver room in New York cannot be stopped going forward.

“I feel like, first of all, we’re all different. But I feel like there’s no way a team should be able to guard three of us – plus all the other guys that’s coming along too. I feel like we got a good group, ”Moore said via video conference.

“It just opens everything up,” Moore added. “That’s how we expect to be on the games on Sundays.”

Heading into his second season, Moore acknowledged ups and downs during his rookie season. Those come for many first-year players and the telling sign can be how a player reacts to the lows in Year 2.

So far, so good, says Moore.

“I feel like I’m understanding what I’m doing better,” Moore said. “Going into Year 2, I just feel like it’s going to be a more smooth transition as far as my assignment.”

It’s early, but New York head coach Robert Saleh provided some team-wide spring analysis as well. He also likes what he’s seeing.

“I’m an optimist,” Saleh said. “I think we’re in a really, really good place. I really do. What it looks like from a results standpoint that’s for all y’all to judge. But we’re a lot further along this year than we were a year ago. ”

The Jets now pack up and head home for over a month. The next time we’ll see Gang Green we’ll be one step closer to the regular season with training camp.
